Summary:
Ensuring the availability and serviceability of vehicles is the main role of the Maintenance Manager. He also manages equipment onboard vehicles or located at stops. The maintenance manager contributes towards a smooth running operation. This is an ever-changing role.
Interview : “Maintenance jobs have evolved a lot thanks to new technology such as on-board electronics and hybrid engines significantly reducing pollutants. With the Group, I follow training programmes which allow me to gain new skills and take care of maintaining this new equipment”.
The maintenance manager organises vehicle repair operations, manages a team of staff and engineers and also has to manage the budget allocated to his department, and in particular purchases of spare parts.
He also produces the network’s accident survey and defines a preventive action programme with the Marketing Department.
